The Vineyard
Frank hand installed the
vineyards with painstaking care. Many weekends
and late nights were spent aligning rows
and establishing an effective trellis system.
The Léal 45
acre estate includes Chardonnay, Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah, Grenache, and
Mourvèdre.
The San Benito County location is just
a few miles inland from the cooling effects of
Monterey Bay. Here is a textbook combination of
warm daytime temperatures mitigated by ocean breezes
and fog. The result is a very long, gentle growing
season. Vineyard yields are purposely kept low
for maximum concentration of flavors; hand-harvesting
ensures maximum fruit quality.
The Winery
The same care and attention to detail went
into building the 10,000 square foot Léal
winery located on the northern end of the property.
The passion for authentic craftsmanship is
evident throughout the estate. Léal
designed and constructed three massive arched
doors from 100-year-old oak fermentation tanks
stained with the wines of past artisans. The
effect is dramatic, guarding the winery and
adding an "Old World" feel.
Lavanda
A major highlight of the property is the winery’s
event center "Lavánda," boasting
a large dance floor, killer sound system,
wine bar, barbecue, brick oven fireplace, gazebo,
and deck overlooking a tranquil
pond. Lavánda is a picture-perfect setting
for parties, weddings and other events. Lavanda is also the setting for an annual Summer Concert Series and frequent Comedy Shows.
